I'm a woman who simply can't sit still. I thrive off of new experiences, and I find inspiration in both mundane daily routines and my travels around the world. I'm shaped by the candid stories people share with me over a cup of tea. When I'm not in work mode, I'm often found teaching a pilates class or cuddling with my bulldogs and reading an interior design book.
Finding contentment in all that I do. I don't take it lightly that I'm able to pay the bills with a "job" that exercises my greatest passions and strengths on a daily basis. I'm fortunate beyond measure to have a staff that represents my same visions and core values in all that they do.
Spent anywhere with a white sand beach, a hammock, my husband, and a frozen margarita in hand. Yes, I'll take that umbrella in my drink, thank you very much.
A vision that came to me quickly one morning, and it was implemented that very same afternoon. We defy logic, embrace our differences, and create environments that perhaps only Hunter S. Thompson could've imagined in his wildest of adventures.
Having grown up in coastal Florida and spending summers in Moultrie, Georgia, I'm a southern girl at heart. I feel at home in Austin, where many styles and backgrounds collide. There's nothing I love more than a wrap-around front porch and dancing around in my pajamas to David Bowie. I find inspiration in the things around me, such as illustrated stationary, feminine sundresses, and the writings of Truman Capote. At Birch & Brass, I provide the extra set of hands. From assisting with design and styling aspects to keeping track of our ever-growing inventory, two days in my work life are never the same. Creating is my passion, whether it be sewing pillows from beautifully patterned fabrics or embroidering dinner napkins to add a handmade touch.
A warm slice of pie and sweet tea.
Sleeping in late and waking up to drizzling rain. My husband has already made me breakfast: Reese's peanut butter cup pancakes and a tall glass of orange juice. After watching a movie (preferably starring Gene Kelly), I cozy up in the corner of a coffee house with a good book. Then, I'll begin to prepare for hosting a potluck dinner that evening. My contribution is a seven-layer lasagna... the ultimate comfort food! My evening is filled with my closest friends, Motown tunes, and an excess of wine.
The creation of a colorful and distinctive atmosphere that provides a space for people to gather and exchange conversations, all while simultaneously enjoying the beauty of life.
I am a quiet and quirky gal who has been in love with Leonardo DiCaprio since I was six. I have a deep, dark, passionate love for the written word and visual design, so I have an abundance of books and on-going art projects in my possession at all times. Photography and traveling have been engrained into my being, and I take every opportunity to put them into action. I was born and raised in West Texas, so the show Friday Night Lights essentially sums up my entire experience growing up. Austin is where my upbringing and cultural interests collide providing me with endless amounts of inspiration.
Traveling to new places. I also adore watching movies over and over again until quoting them becomes second nature.
Waking up to my dog licking me on my face, followed by taking her for a run, and then swimming some laps. After going to see a movie by myself, preferably one directed by Woody Allen or Wes Anderson, I would go to a coffee shop and drink a lavender latte. I'd spend the remainder of the day painting and processing my film in a dark room.
The perfect combination of creativity and practicality; one that has the ability to transform an event into a beloved memory.
I transform styles and designs from Brittany's mind into a reality on a daily basis. Ideas go from scattered pieces in our warehouse to a truly unique and memorable element of our client's events. Sometimes it's easy, other times it's not (thanks to some delicate 18th and 19th century pieces!), but there are rewarding results every time. I'm a husband and father, born and raised in Austin. I know its really everyone's city now, but I'm still trying to hang on to it for a spell longer. I travel all over Central Texas with our vintage goods, and I can tell you what every coffee house, bar, and restaurant used to be along the way. You couldn't be a truly local business without a true local, now could you?
Having spent my entire life in a place everyone else wants to be - I'm married to an Austinite, too!
Coffee with my wife, brunch with my daughter, a nap, dinner off the grill, a night out at the Elephant Room, and coffee to end the evening.
Unique style you may not have known you initially needed, but soon realized you couldn't have gone without.
